The signing of the New Agreement on Minimum Artist Fees
On 23 May 2025, the first art institutions will sign the New Agreement on Minimum Artist Fees, developed by the Civic Forum for Contemporary Art. The official signing ceremony will take place at 1:00 pm in the presence of invited guests at TRAFO Trafostacja Sztuki in Szczecin.
TRAFO Trafostacja Sztuki in Szczecin, BWA Wrocław, the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, and Zachęta – National Gallery of Art in Warsaw will be the first institutions to sign the New Agreement in Szczecin, in the presence of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage – Hanna Wróblewska, and the Deputy Mayor of the City of Szczecin – Marcin Biskupski. This marks a breakthrough change, introducing a new standard for remunerating artistic work and for the way artists’ labour is understood and valued.
Low fees paid to artists participating in exhibitions and producing artworks for them have long been a pressing issue within Polish culture. As in the case of writers, the Polish visual arts community—represented by the Civic Forum for Contemporary Art—has been working for years to address this problem. The New Agreement signed at TRAFO Trafostacja Sztuki initiates the process of adopting a national framework of minimum artist fees in Poland. As a result, artists will receive fair remuneration for their participation in exhibitions.
We warmly invite you to attend the signing ceremony of the New Agreement. During the event, we will present the details of the Agreement and explain the method for calculating minimum artist fees.
